Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Base Layers
-
In a bowl, mix refried beans with taco seasoning if using. Spread evenly in the bottom of your serving dish.
-
In a separate bowl, mash avocados with lime juice, salt, and garlic powder. Spread guacamole gently over the bean layer.
Step 2: Add the Creamy & Spicy Layers
3. Mix sour cream with cumin (if using) and spread over the guacamole.
4. Carefully spoon salsa over the sour cream layer. Make sure it’s well-drained so the dip doesn’t get watery.
Step 3: Top with Cheese & Fresh Ingredients
5. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly across the salsa layer.
6. Add a layer of diced tomatoes.
7. Finish with black olives, green onions, and cilantro if desired.
Step 4: Chill & Serve
8. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow flavors to blend.
9. Serve cold with tortilla chips or veggie sticks.
Notes
-
Use a Clear Dish – It looks beautiful when you can see all the layers.
-
Drain the Salsa – Prevents excess moisture from breaking down other layers.
-
Keep Layers Even – Smooth each layer gently to avoid mixing.
-
Make Ahead – You can prepare this up to 24 hours in advance and keep it chilled.
-
Add a Kick – Add diced jalapeños or a drizzle of hot sauce for some heat.
