Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (24 oz) package frozen or fresh cheese ravioli
- 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce (or homemade)
- 1 cup ricotta cheese (or cottage cheese)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground turkey or beef (optional, for a meaty version)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil (or 1 teaspoon dried)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Sauce
- If using meat, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add ground turkey or beef, breaking it up, and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Step 2: Assemble the Casserole
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Spread ⅓ of the marinara sauce on the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Layer half of the ravioli evenly over the sauce.
- Dollop ricotta cheese over the ravioli and spread gently.
- Sprinkle ½ cup mozzarella and ¼ cup Parmesan over the layer.
- Repeat layers: sauce, ravioli, remaining ricotta, and more cheese.
- Finish with the remaining sauce and top with extra mozzarella and Parmesan.
Step 3: Bake Until Golden
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for another 10 minutes, until cheese is golden and bubbly.
Step 4: Serve & Enjoy!
- Let cool for 5 minutes, then garnish with fresh basil.
- Serve hot with garlic bread or a fresh salad.
Notes
- No Need to Boil Ravioli – It cooks perfectly in the sauce while baking.
- Use Fresh or Frozen Ravioli – Both work great! Just adjust bake time if needed.
- For Extra Flavor – Add sautéed mushrooms or spinach.
- For a Creamier Casserole – Mix ½ cup heavy cream into the marinara sauce.
