Ingredients

Scale
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

  • ¼ tsp baking powder

  • Pinch of salt

  • ¼ cup milk (any kind)

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (or melted butter)

  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 tbsp chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)

  • Optional: extra chocolate chips or a sprinkle of sea salt for topping

Instructions

Step 1: Mix Dry Ingredients
In your mug, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
Stir to evenly distribute.

Step 2: Add Wet Ingredients
Add milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
Stir until smooth and lump-free.

Step 3: Fold in Chocolate Chips
Gently fold in 2 tablespoons of chocolate chips.
Top with a few extra chips if you like melty chocolate on top.

Step 4: Microwave to Perfection
Microwave on high for 60–90 seconds, depending on your microwave’s power.
The cake should rise and look set on top. Avoid overcooking—it continues to cook as it sits.

Step 5: Cool Slightly & Serve
Let the mug cake cool for 1–2 minutes before digging in.
Enjoy as-is, or top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or a drizzle of chocolate syrup.

Notes

Use a Large Mug – Prevents overflow while cooking.
Don’t Overmix – Stir until just combined for a soft texture.
Adjust Cook Time – Start with 60 seconds and add more time in 10-second intervals if needed.
Add a Surprise Center – Try dropping a spoonful of peanut butter or Nutella into the center before microwaving.
Use Quality Chocolate – It makes all the difference for flavor and melt.
