¾ cup panko breadcrumbs

Instructions
Step 1: Make the Cheese Mixture
-
In a bowl, mix together goat cheese, cream cheese (if using), chopped herbs, garlic powder, and black pepper until smooth and well combined.
-
Cover and place in the freezer for 10–15 minutes to firm up. This makes rolling easier.
Step 2: Shape the Balls
-
Once the mixture is chilled, use a small cookie scoop or spoon to portion and roll the cheese into balls (about 1 inch in diameter).
-
Place the balls on a plate or tray and freeze for another 10 minutes to help them hold their shape.
Step 3: Prepare the Breading Station
-
Place flour in the first bowl.
-
Beat the egg in the second bowl.
-
Combine panko breadcrumbs, salt, and smoked paprika in the third bowl.
Step 4: Coat the Goat Cheese Balls
-
Roll each cheese ball in the flour, shaking off excess.
-
Dip into the egg wash until coated.
-
Roll in the seasoned panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently so the crumbs stick well.
-
Place back on the tray and refrigerate for 5-10 minutes before frying.
Step 5: Fry the Goat Cheese Balls
-
Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat (about 350°F / 175°C).
-
Fry the balls in small batches for 1–2 minutes, turning as needed until golden brown.
-
Use a slotted spoon to remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Step 6: Serve and Enjoy
-
Plate warm with a drizzle of honey or balsamic glaze.
-
Sprinkle with extra herbs and serve with crackers, crostini, or a side salad.
Notes
Chill the Cheese – Cold cheese is easier to shape and bread.
Use Panko – Panko breadcrumbs give the best crispy texture.
Fry in Batches – Don’t overcrowd the pan; it drops the oil temperature.
Season Well – Don’t skip seasoning the coating for maximum flavor.
Get Creative – Add crushed nuts, lemon zest, or chili flakes to the cheese mixture for extra flair.
