Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala work best)

  • 2 tbsp melted unsalted butter

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (light or dark)

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

  • Optional: 1 tsp cornstarch (for thicker caramel-like coating)

  • Optional toppings: chopped walnuts, raisins, or a drizzle of maple syrup

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Apples

  1. Wash and core the apples.

  2. Peel them if desired (leaving the peel on adds texture and nutrients).

  3. Slice apples into ½-inch thick wedges or bite-sized chunks for even cooking.

Step 2: Season the Apples

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.

  2. If using, add 1 tsp cornstarch to help thicken the glaze while cooking.

  3. Toss the sliced apples in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until evenly coated.

Step 3: Air Fry the Apples

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.

  2. Place the coated apples in a single layer in the air fryer basket.

  3. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through for even caramelization.

  4. Apples should be tender with slightly crispy edges and a sticky, cinnamon glaze.

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy

  1. Serve warm as is, or top with chopped nuts or a drizzle of maple syrup.

  2. These are delicious alone or paired with oatmeal, pancakes, yogurt, or vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Choose the Right Apples – Firm, sweet-tart apples like Honeycrisp or Fuji hold their shape well.
Cut Evenly – Uniform slices ensure everything cooks at the same rate.
Don’t Overcrowd – Work in batches if necessary to keep the apples from steaming.
Add Texture – Toss in some chopped nuts or oats before serving for crunch.
Double the Batch – These go fast, and leftovers are great the next day!
