Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry – Thawed but still cold.
  • 4 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate – Use chopped chocolate or chocolate bars for the best melt.
  • 1 egg – Lightly beaten (for the egg wash).
  • 1 tablespoon milk – Helps give the croissants a golden shine.
  • Powdered sugar (optional) – For a light dusting before serving.

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Puff Pastry

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lightly flour your surface and roll out the puff pastry to smooth the edges.

Step 2: Cut and Fill the Croissants

  1. Cut the pastry into 4 equal rectangles (or triangles for a traditional croissant shape).
  2. Place a few pieces of chocolate at the wider end of each rectangle.

Step 3: Roll and Seal

  1. Roll the dough over the chocolate, tucking in the sides slightly as you roll to keep the chocolate inside.
  2. Place the rolled croissants seam-side down on the baking sheet.

Step 4: Brush with Egg Wash

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
  2. Brush the croissants lightly with the egg wash for a beautiful golden finish.

Step 5: Bake Until Golden

  1. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and puffed up.
  2. Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.

Step 6: Serve & Enjoy

  1. Dust with powdered sugar for a sweet touch.
  2. Serve warm and enjoy the melty chocolate goodness!

Notes

Use high-quality chocolate – It melts better and gives a richer flavor.
Don’t overfill – Too much chocolate can cause leaking.
Seal the edges well – This prevents the chocolate from escaping.
Bake until deeply golden – This ensures maximum crispiness.
