  • Milk (¾ cup) – Helps create a smooth batter.
  • Egg (1 large) – Binds the ingredients together.

  • Vegetable Oil (for frying) – A neutral oil with a high smoke point.

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Onions

  1. Peel the onions and slice them into ½-inch thick rings.
  2. Separate the rings and set aside.

Step 2: Make the Batter

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  2. Add the milk and egg, whisking until smooth. The batter should be thick but slightly runny.

Step 3: Coat the Onion Rings

  1. Dip each onion ring into the batter, coating it evenly.
  2. (Optional) For extra crunch, dredge the battered rings in breadcrumbs or panko.

Step 4: Fry Until Crispy

  1. Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pan over 350°F (175°C).
