Ingredients
For the Stuffed Pears:
-
4 ripe but firm pears (Bosc or Anjou preferred)
-
1 tbsp lemon juice (to prevent browning)
-
½ cup blue cheese, crumbled
-
¼ cup cream cheese (softened, helps with texture)
-
¼ cup walnuts, chopped and lightly toasted
-
2 tbsp honey (plus more for drizzling)
-
¼ tsp black pepper
-
1 tbsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped (optional but recommended)
For Garnish:
-
Extra chopped walnuts
-
Fresh rosemary sprigs
-
Microgreens or arugula (optional for plating)
-
A touch of sea salt flakes (to finish)
Instructions
Step 1: Prep the Pears
-
Wash and dry the pears thoroughly.
-
Slice each pear in half lengthwise and use a melon baller or spoon to scoop out the core and seeds.
-
To help the pears sit flat, slice a tiny piece off the underside of each half.
-
Rub the cut surfaces with lemon juice to keep them from browning while you prep the filling.
Step 2: Make the Filling
-
In a small bowl, combine the crumbled blue cheese, softened cream cheese, chopped toasted walnuts, honey, black pepper, and chopped rosemary (if using).
-
Mix until the ingredients are well blended but still slightly chunky for texture.
Step 3: Stuff the Pears
-
Spoon the cheese mixture into the hollowed-out centers of each pear half, dividing it evenly.
-
Slightly mound the filling so it looks full and elegant.
Step 4: Optional Warming (for a soft, melted touch)
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
Place stuffed pears on a baking sheet and warm in the oven for 5–7 minutes, just until the cheese begins to soften.
-
This step is optional but adds a lovely creamy texture.
Step 5: Garnish & Serve
-
Transfer the stuffed pears to a serving platter or individual plates.
-
Drizzle with a bit more honey for sheen and sweetness.
-
Sprinkle with extra chopped walnuts and sea salt flakes.
-
Garnish with rosemary sprigs and microgreens or arugula if desired.
Notes
Choose Ripe, Firm Pears – Overripe pears may fall apart; firm yet ripe ones hold their shape beautifully.
Toast the Nuts – Toasting brings out a deeper flavor and enhances the crunch.
Balance the Saltiness – If your blue cheese is very salty, reduce added salt or use a milder variety.
Add Heat – A light sprinkle of chili flakes adds a surprise kick for adventurous palates.
Make Ahead – Prepare the filling in advance and assemble the pears just before serving.
