Ingredients

Scale

For the Filling:

  • 1 cup cooked spinach, chopped and squeezed dry (or thawed frozen spinach)

  • 1 cup canned artichoke hearts, chopped

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened

  • ½ cup sour cream

  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • ½ tsp onion powder

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • Salt to taste

For Breading & Frying:

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs, beaten

  • 1½ cups seasoned breadcrumbs

  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Optional for Serving:

  • Ranch or marinara dipping sauce

  • Lemon wedges

  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Dip Filling
In a large bowl, mix together spinach, chopped artichokes, cream cheese, sour cream, mozzarella, Parmesan, garlic, onion powder, pepper, and salt.
Stir until the mixture is well combined and smooth.

Step 2: Chill the Mixture
Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 1 hour, or until firm enough to scoop and shape.
This step helps the balls hold together during frying.

Step 3: Shape the Balls
Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, form the chilled dip mixture into 1-inch balls.
Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Freeze for 20–30 minutes to firm up before breading.

Step 4: Bread the Dip Balls
Prepare three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.
Roll each ball in flour, then dip into egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
Place back on the baking sheet and repeat with all dip balls.

Step 5: Fry Until Golden
Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
Fry 4–5 balls at a time for 2–3 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
Use a slotted spoon to remove and place on paper towels to drain.

Step 6: Serve and Enjoy
Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce like ranch or marinara.
Garnish with chopped parsley or a squeeze of lemon for brightness.

Notes

Drain the Spinach Well – Too much moisture makes the filling loose.
Chill Before Frying – Keeps the balls intact and easier to bread.
Use Seasoned Breadcrumbs – Adds more flavor and better browning.
Don’t Crowd the Pan – Fry in batches to maintain even heat.
Double Bread for Extra Crunch – Dip in egg and breadcrumbs twice for a thicker crust.
