Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 white onion (peeled & thinly sliced)
  • 1 tbsp canola oil
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 pkg medium egg noodles
  • 4 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Cook the egg noodles in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large Dutch oven over medium heat, add canola oil. Once hot, add ground beef, salt, pepper, and onion powder. Cook while breaking up the meat until browned.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together whole milk and chicken broth until blended.
  4. Add sliced onion to the beef mixture and continue cooking until the beef is fully cooked.
  5. Push the meat mixture aside and add flour to the empty space in the pot; whisk until combined and cook for about 30 seconds.
  6. Gradually pour in the milk and broth mixture while whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Simmer until thickened.
  7. Return drained noodles to their pot and stir in butter until melted.
  8. Serve buttered noodles topped with generous portions of gravy.
