Ingredients
- Unsalted Butter (½ cup, melted) – Adds richness.
- Granulated Sugar (1 cup) – Creates the signature crackly top.
- Brown Sugar (¼ cup, packed) – Enhances moisture and flavor.
- Eggs (2 large) – Gives structure and chewiness.
- Vanilla Extract (1 tsp) – Deepens the chocolate flavor.
- Cocoa Powder (½ cup, unsweetened) – Provides deep chocolate taste.
- All-Purpose Flour (½ cup) – Keeps the brownies dense and fudgy.
- Salt (¼ tsp) – Balances the sweetness.
- Baking Powder (½ tsp, optional) – Adds slight lift (skip for ultra-dense brownies).
- Chocolate Chips (½ cup, optional) – Melts into gooey chocolate pockets.
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
In a bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until the mixture is light and slightly thickened.
Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder (if using). Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture with a spatula until just combined. Do not overmix!
Stir in chocolate chips for extra gooey brownies (optional but recommended).
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).
Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before slicing. This helps them set and get the perfect fudgy texture.
Notes
- Don’t Overmix: Stir until just combined for the perfect texture.
- Use Quality Cocoa: The better the cocoa, the richer the brownies.
- Let Them Cool: For clean slices and the best fudgy texture, cool before cutting.
