Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • ½ cup hot fudge sauce, slightly warmed
  • ½ cup chocolate chips (optional, for extra chocolatey goodness)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.

Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients

  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

Step 3: Combine the Wet Ingredients

  • In another bowl, whisk together sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and milk until smooth.

Step 4: Make the Batter

  • Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  • Stir until just combined—don’t overmix!
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips if using.

Step 5: Add the Hot Fudge Swirl

  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  • Drizzle half of the hot fudge sauce over the batter.
  • Pour the remaining batter on top.
  • Drizzle the rest of the hot fudge sauce and swirl it lightly with a knife or skewer.

Step 6: Bake the Bread

  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).
  • Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Step 7: Slice and Enjoy!

  • Slice warm for the ultimate gooey experience or let it cool completely for cleaner slices.

Notes

  • Use High-Quality Cocoa Powder: This makes a huge difference in flavor!
  • Don’t Overmix the Batter: Overmixing can make the bread dense instead of fudgy.
  • Warm the Hot Fudge Slightly: This helps it swirl more easily.
  • For Extra Gooeyness: Slightly underbake for an extra fudgy center!
