Ingredients
- 1 ½ lb top sirloin or ribeye (thinly sliced)
- 2 onions (quartered and sliced)
- 1/2–1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1–2 sweet bell peppers (thinly sliced)
- 4 cups beef broth
- 12 slices provolone cheese
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 4 tbsp flour (divided)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp thyme
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- In a large bowl, toss steak strips with salt and pepper. Add 2 tablespoons of flour and mix until coated.
- Sear the steak in a skillet over medium-high heat in batches until browned but still pink inside; set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté onions and mushrooms until translucent. Stir in garlic powder, remaining flour, Worcestershire sauce, and seasonings.
- Gradually add beef broth while stirring to prevent lumps; let simmer for 30 minutes.
- Incorporate bell peppers during the last 10 minutes of cooking. Return seared beef to heat through.
- Serve warm topped with provolone cheese.
