Ingredients

Scale

For the Banana Bread:

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for warmth)

For the Salted Caramel Swirl:

  • ½ cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt (or to taste)

For Topping (Optional):

  • Extra caramel drizzle
  • Flaky sea salt
  • Chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven & Prepare the Pan

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line with parchment paper.

Step 2: Make the Banana Bread Batter

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together mashed bananas, melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.

Step 3: Layer the Caramel Swirl

  1. Pour half of the batter into the loaf pan.
  2. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter, then swirl with a knife.
  3. Add the remaining batter and drizzle the rest of the caramel sauce on top. Swirl gently again.

Step 4: Bake Until Golden

  1. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Step 5: Garnish & Serve

  1. Drizzle with extra caramel sauce and sprinkle with flaky sea salt before serving.

Notes

Use Overripe Bananas – The riper, the sweeter and moister the bread.
Don’t Overmix – Keeps the bread soft and tender.
Adjust the Salt – Use flaky sea salt for a perfect salted caramel balance.
Make It Extra Moist – Add ¼ cup Greek yogurt or sour cream.
