Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a suitable baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together granulated sugar, brown sugar, and butter until fluffy. Blend in eggs, vanilla extract, buttermilk, maple syrup, and mashed bananas.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- Gradually combine dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just mixed; do not overmix.
- Pour batter into the prepared dish and bake for 45–55 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- For the toffee sauce: Melt butter and brown sugar in a pot over medium-low heat. Stir until smooth, then add heavy cream and vanilla. Cook for an additional five minutes without boiling.
- Once baked, poke holes in the cake with a toothpick and pour cooled toffee sauce evenly over it.
