Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup warm milk (about 110°F)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt

For the Cinnamon Filling:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Pink Glaze:

  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 drops pink or red food coloring

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Dough

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add melted butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  3. Slowly add flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms. Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

Step 2: Prepare the Filling

  1. In a bowl, mix softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Step 3: Assemble the Cinnamon Rolls

  1. Roll out the risen dough into a 14×10-inch rectangle on a floured surface.
  2. Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough.
  3. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal rolls.
  4. Place rolls in a greased baking dish and cover. Let rise again for 30 minutes.

Step 4: Bake the Rolls

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 5: Make the Pink Glaze & Serve

  1. In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and food coloring.
  2. Drizzle the pink glaze over warm cinnamon rolls.
  3. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Make-Ahead Option: Prepare the rolls the night before, cover, and refrigerate. In the morning, let them come to room temperature before baking.
  • Perfect Swirls: Use unflavored dental floss to cut the rolls without squishing them.
  • Extra Fluffiness: Allow the dough to rise properly for the best texture.
