  • ½ yellow onion (diced)
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 2 teaspoons beef bouillon powder
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cheese slices (American or cheddar)
  • Texas toast bread

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook diced onions and ground beef with beef bouillon, salt, and pepper until the meat is browned. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds before draining excess grease.
  2. Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, and brown sugar into the meat mixture. Simmer over low-medium heat until combined.
  3. In a separate skillet, spread mayo on one side of each slice of Texas toast. Place mayo-side down in the skillet, then layer cheese, sloppy joe mixture, another slice of cheese, and top with another slice of bread.
